Philip is chairman of the group with responsibility for corporate governance, strategy and finance. He led an international corporate career in the computer industry in the USA and is an experienced chairman/ceo of both quoted and private companies in a wide range of sectors. He has a law degree from Cambridge University and completed the strategic marketing programme at the Harvard Business School.
He then joined the Plessey company as an executive director responsible, initially, for worldwide marketing and subsequently group corporate development and strategic planning. Following Plessey's acquisition by GEC he was appointed CEO of North Sea Assets Plc which, over a 5 year period, he radically restructured.
In recent years he has acquired an extensive portfolio of non executive interests in areas as diverse as software, engineering, oil services, leisure, insurance broking and recruitment where he has advised principally on restructuring and strategy. He has been a Chairman with TEC International, the world's largest coaching organisation, and works with CEOs to improve their leadership skills. Outside the world of business he is Deputy Chairman of the Board of Governors of Bath Spa University.
